The picture has no name on in, however, it was with papers related to Philip Grant Carrington and his mother Clara Owens Carrington Kidd. The picture may be of Clara's parents who had the last name of Owens or Raiford (Rayford or Ray). Clara was born in South Carolina approximately 1892 in or near Spartanburg or Laurens.
Philip was born in 1910 in Ashdown, Arkansas but also lived in Colorado, Missouri, Ohio before dying in Michigan in 1982 where he was very well known throughout the state.

The picture is Thomas Ray (1828) and his wife Melvina Amanda Watts (1835) who were born in South Carolina possibly in Union County. Their children were: Sims Octavious, Millie, Laura, Palina, Mason, Rebecca, Frances, William Henderson and Louisa. Possibly in the 1890's Thomas and Melvina Ray along with their children Rebecca, Millie, and William Henderson moved to Little River County Arkansas.
Rebecca Ray had two chldren prior to her marriage to Allen Berry Owens in 1901. Those children were Clara Ray and Uriel Octavious Ray. Rebecca Ray was the second wife of Allen Berry (A.B.) Owens. His first wife Mary died in 1900.
Allen Berry Owens also from South Carolina was the son of James Owens. Another son of James Owens was Sampson, who is the grandfather of Thirkell Harris Howard. After the death of his first wife, James Owens married Sallie Prather, also a neighbor. Mary, one of Sallie Prather's daughter married Sims Octavious Ray son of Thomas and Melvina Ray.
Millie Ray married Lawrence Duncan. Issac Thomas Duncan son of Millie and Lawrence married Nancy Owens the daughter of Allen Berry Owens and his first wife Mary.
The Owens, Ray, Duncan and Prather families were neighbors while living in Laurens County, South Carolina (see the 1880 US Federal census). The Owens, Ray, Prather, and Duncan Families are very interconnected through marriages.
This information is provided by Thirkell's cousin Delores
This is Thomas and Melvina! I cannot believe you have this picture of them!
